The Chinese Museum is located in Melbourne's Chinatown - the oldest area of continuous Chinese settlement in the western world - to provide a focal point to the precinct's rich social and architectural heritage. Once a JC Williamson prop store (behind Her Majesty's Theatre) built in 1905, the four storey warehouse building is located in Cohen Place, which runs between Little Bourke and Lonsdale Streets.

Chinatown Visitor Centre and Museum Shop
The Chinatown Visitor Centre provides an orientation to Melbourne's Chinatown. Chinatown extends along Little Bourke Street between Swanston and Exhibition Streets. Sponsored by Central Equity Ltd, the Visitor Centre features displays of historic streetscapes of Chinatown dating back to the 1850s.
The Museum shop has an exotic range of Chinese souvenirs, homewares and gifts.
