Leong-Lim Family History The Leong-Lim Family History Project is a Chinese Australian family history website dedicated to documenting the Leong-Lim family’s movement from Southern China and Hong Kong to Australia. Its purpose is to preserve and share family migration histories through researched narratives, photographs, documents, maps, and a family history book titled The Old Reliable Firm: Good Workmanship Guaranteed. The site presents the family’s history across themes of migration, family life, work, business, social connection, community belonging, and intergenerational memory. The historical material links family origins in the Pearl River Delta region with later experiences in Hong Kong and Australia, including Charters Towers, Melbourne, Ingham, Cairns, and Sydney. The website highlights merchants, artisans, market gardens, city shops, and family businesses, and it uses photographs, captions, and maps to situate these histories. The photo archive includes formal portraits, weddings, business records, social images, and family albums, with digitization described as a way to preserve material for future Leong-Lim descendants and the broader Australian multicultural community. The project also supports a private family members’ area where registered relatives can access secure albums, family trees, and downloadable documents. It invites contributions of stories, photographs, documents, skills, time, and funds, identifying itself as a non-profit family history project. The family history book was launched in Hong Kong in October 2024, with later Australian launches in Melbourne, Sydney, Cairns, and Ingham.
