The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duan Wu Festival, is a long-established celebration in Chinese culture, traditionally held on the 5th day of the 5th month of the lunar calendar. The word Duan means “beginning” and the word Wu means “warmth and radiance”.

Inside our Dragon Boat Festival exhibition, you can:

  • Go deeper into the customs of Dragon Boat festival and the story of patriotic poet Qu Yuan
  • Join our free Guided Tour of the Dragon Boat exhibition, at the following times:
    • Friday 30th June 1pm, 2pm, 3pm
    • Saturday 1st July 1pm, 2pm, 3pm
    • Sunday 2nd July 1pm, 2pm, 3pm
  • Colour-in your own dragon scale to add to our Dragon Boat!
  • Take a selfie in our Dragon Boat

  • Children 12yrs & under - Free entry to the whole museum
  • Accompanying Adults - regular admission charge applies (includes entry to the whole Museum)
