If it is not possible for you to bring your students on an excursion, the Chinese Museum can come to you, with our Incursion Program: The Travelling Museum. This is our key outreach program, comprising of one, two or three activities which are aligned to the Victorian Curriculum and comprise of an engaging series of cultural experiences, run by experienced Chinese Museum instructors.
Our team of instructors arrive at your school armed with our specially designed kits. A surcharge applies for locations over 30 kms from the museum. Bookings must be made a minimum of 6 weeks in advance.

We can cater for up to 300 students in one day for 3-session incursion. Activities are run on a rotating roster.

A fun, interactive and engaging hip-hop musical that follows the journey of Ah Chan, a Chinese cabinet maker in 19th century Victoria, from his initial migration to Australia in 1870s to eventually becoming the best cabinet maker in Chinatown, Melbourne.
Students will learn about the significance and history of lanterns, and make their own.
