We are currently recruiting Visitor Services Officers / Tour Guides to deliver our onsite school programs.  

The Chinese Museum is looking for people who:
  • can communicate positively with others across different ages, backgrounds, cultures and abilities
  • are fluent in English (fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese is also desirable)
  • love to learn and conduct research
  • have a keen interest in art, history and culture
  • have time to commit (at least 3-5 hours per week)
  • are flexible and enjoy working with others
  • are comfortable using smartphones and computers
As a Visitor Services Officer/Guide, you can look forward to:
  • Presentations by staff from the Chinese Museum and industry professionals, including ways of linking the museum’s exhibitions to Victorian curriculum (History, Civics and Citizenship, Music, Visual Art, English and Chinese language)
  • Workshops to equip you with the skills for storytelling and museum guiding
  • Acquiring knowledge on how the museum’s objects can support inquiry-based learning
  • Interaction with students and teachers on the topics of Chinese-Australian history and heritage

  • will obtain a Victorian Working with Children Check and supply proof of identity
  • commits to a minimum of one day per month
  • can commit to the training program (estimated 3 x 2-hour sessions) and guiding regularly for Chinese Museum for at least 1 year.
