Inside Out: Creativity through Diversity

“We don't know what the inner worlds of our children look like, but if they are given the opportunity to express themselves, perhaps they will present us with a brilliant and colorful world, far more wonderful than the one we see for ourselves.”

This Chinese New Year, the Chinese Museum welcomes the artwork of 17 year old Jason Liu and 14 year old Jeno Liu, children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, expressing themselves through art. 

This exhibition will encourage not only understanding and celebration of the inner lives of neurodiverse children but present a forum to inspire parents, children and the community alike, to be kinder and more creative.

Saturday 2nd March 1:30pm-2:30pm

Artists, Jason and Jeno will attend to give a demonstration of their process of painting. Several of Jason and Jeno’s paintings will also be available for purchase, with all proceeds going towards selected charities who support people who are neurodiverse.

A calm mind is essential for creativity to flow. During its exhibition period, Inside Out will host 3 workshops delivered by professional aromatherapists about the uses of aromatherapy to relieve anxiety, improve mental and physical health and effectively resolve negative emotions. 

Through accessible on-site explanations, these aromatherapists will help you to understand how to safely and effectively regulate your emotions through essential oils. 

‘TREE OF HOPE’: 
THROUGHOUT EXHIBITION PERIOD 

Everyone is invited, during the exhibition period of Inside Out, to contribute to the construction of a public installation, the ‘Tree of Hope’, out of a base of wood panels trimmed and curled into the shape of flowers. 

For a donation small or large to a neurodiverse charity of your choice, you will have the opportunity to paint, decorate and contribute your own unique flower to the Tree of Hope.
