External Event

This is a rare opportunity to join an archeological dig expedition in what was Harrietville Chinese Gold Miners Village, in October 2021.

There was significant gold discovery in the early 1860s in Ovens river valley in Harrietville, Victoria where thousands of Victoria’s Chinese gold miners worked and settled in a Chinese village. Many historically significant Chinese artefacts were found during the past two expeditions and many areas are still unexplored thus warranting a further dig.

Location

Alpine National Park, in the Upper Ovens Valley, in northeast Victoria, Australia, near the town of Harrietville.
