FREE Digital Cultural Adventures (DCA) available to all schools outside of Victoria

Book before 8th June 2022

Digital Cultural Adventures brings the Chinese Museum to your students!

Through exploring a themed collection of objects, images and stories, in this set of virtual, interactive programs, students can discover how Chinese-Australians have contributed to Australia's society and culture for more than 200 years.

Choose from four themed programs aligned with year level content that supports the Australian Curriculum F-10. The programs particularly support learning related to:

  • Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS – History)
  • General Capabilities - Intercultural Understanding/Capability
  • Cross Curriculum Priorities - Asia and Australia's Engagement with Asia.
Modules Available From:  Levels/Years Status
The Promise of Gold 8th Nov 2021 Suitable for Levels/Years 4-6
Awakening the Dragon 1st Dec 2021 Suitable for Levels/Years F-3
Wing Chun Kung Fu 1st Dec 2021 Suitable for Levels/Years F-12 ALLOCATION EXHAUSTED
Ancient China 1st Feb 2022 Suitable for Level/Year 7

All programs are facilitated via Zoom, MS Teams, Webex or the video-conferencing platform recommended by your education authority/jurisdiction and are presented by experienced guides.

Digital Cultural Adventures: Wing Chun Kung Fu (States other than VIC)

Digital Cultural Adventures bring the Chinese Museum to your classroom! A virtual incursion program facilitated live by a Shifu master who demonstrates safe ways to use this ancient art form to develop strength, balance and mindfulness. The instructor also introduces students to the origins and health benefits of Wing Chun Kung Fu. Read more

    The Chinese Museum’s building, located in the heart of Chinatown, was built by the Cohen Bros. in 1890 and used originally as a furniture warehouse. It was acquired in 1984 by the Victorian State Government to enable the establishment of a Museum to provide the heritage and cultural foundation for Melbourne’s Chinatown.

    Mid-Autumn Festival Schools Program

    The Mid-Autumn Festival is a 3000-year-old tradition that occurs when the full moon appears largest in the sky. Celebrating family re-union, this festival program explores moon legends and traditional practices such as lantern making, riddle guessing, moon cake making and the Chinese tea ceremony.
