Digital Cultural Adventures brings the Chinese Museum to your students!
Through exploring a themed collection of objects, images and stories, students can discover how Chinese-Australians have contributed to Australia's society and culture for more than 200 years.
Choose from six themed programs aligned with year level content that supports the Victorian Curriculum. The programs particularly support learning related to:
Through the virtual, interactive, DCA programs, students can learn about Ancient Chinese innovations that changed the world, the legend of the Chinese dragon and its importance in Chinese New Year festivities, the Chinese people on the Australian goldfields, or participate in a Kung Fu class.
All programs are facilitated via Webex, Zoom, MS Teams or the video-conferencing platform recommended by your education authority/jurisdiction and are presented by experienced guides.

A virtual incursion program allowing students to interact with the artefacts of the Chinese Museum’s collection from their classroom. Facilitated live by an experienced Museum Guide, students can learn about Emperor Qin and his Terracotta Army, burial customs and inventions of the Han dynasty, and the importance of the Silk Road. Facilitated live by an experienced Museum Guide, students can learn about the reasons Chinese people first migrated to Australia in the 1800s, their life on the colonial goldfields, and the popular occupations they chose after the goldrush. A virtual incursion program allowing students to visit the Chinese Museum from their classroom. Facilitated live by an experienced Museum Guide, students can learn about the myths and origins of the Chinese dragon, its role in the Chinese New Year parade and other important symbols in Chinese culture. A virtual incursion program facilitated live by a Shifu master who demonstrates safe ways to use this ancient art form to develop strength, balance and mindfulness. The instructor also introduces students to the origins and health benefits of Wing Chun Kung Fu. Read more
A virtual incursion program allows students to visit the Chinese Museum from their classroom. Students will make their own red paper lanterns and learn about the significance and history of lantern-making in China. Read more
